Operational Guidelines for
Engineering College Students' Chapter
To enable formation of a Chapter in any accredited discipline of Engineering minimum number of member required is twenty. One Engineering College
may have Chapters for each of its recognised disciplines e.g.Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.
If the above clause is satisfied, the management of the College shall appoint
one of the faculty members of the respective discipline to act
as the Advisor
of that Chapter.
The Chapter thus formed shall have to be designated, as per Rule 3.1.4.1 in
the following manner :
Manipal Institute of Technology Students' Chapter (Civil Engineering)
To allot Code number to the Chapter, include the branch code and
membership serial number in the following manner :
College Code (first 3 digits) Branch Code (2 digits) Membership Serial
(4 digits)
e.g. SE 576 05 001
Branch Code Number will be as follows :

To take the following actions on Application Form and Membership Card :
Application Form to be
filled in and signed by the students
and deposited with the
Adviser along with Rs. 50/- as the annual subscription.
Adviser shall issue the
Membership Card duly filled-in in respect
of Name,
Branch, Roll Number, Year of payment of subscription, etc as indicated in the card.
Adviser shall send the duly filled-in application form along with
Rs.10/- per application
as proportionate subscription by demand draft in favour of "THE
INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS (INDIA)"
payable at
Kolkata to cover administrative
expenses at
Headquarters.The
Balance Rs. 40/-
per student to be retained for the activities
of the Chapter shall be spent
in the following
manner :

Application forms as in (a) along with draft as per (c) are to be sent to Headquarters
along with list of members as under :

In the following years, above procedures shall be followed for the
new members.
For renewal of old membership, subscription @ Rs.50/- for the current year
shall have to be collected and entered in the
card as subscription receipt. A list
of such renewals along with the
draft for the proportionate subscription @ Rs. 10/-
per student shall be sent to Headquarters office.
All subscriptions, both new and renewal, fall due on 1st April of the
year and must
be paid within the last day of September of the year failing which the name of the
member shall be struck off the roll.
To take action to form the Students' Chapter Committee as per Rule 3.1 of the 'Rules
for Students' Chapters'
To send reports of technical activities of the Chapter twice a year in the following
manner : -
From April to June, to reach Headquarters Office latest by July 15
From July to September, to reach Headquarters Office latest by October 15 (For publication
in January Newsletter)
From October to December, to reach Headquarters Office latest by January 15
From January to March, to reach Headquarters Office latest by April 15 (For
publication
in July Newsletter).
Note : Details of the activities as far as possible with photographs.
To distribute the Newsletter amongst the Chapter members which will be
sent in bulk
to the Advisers.
Any change in the name of Adviser, who is the corresponding link between
the Chapter
and Headquarters shall be informed forthwith to avoid
discontinuation.
